Narayana Health — Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

According to WHO, cervical cancer is the second-most common cause of cancer death in reproductive-aged women globally, while being the fourth most frequent cancer in women.

This debilitating disease, caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV), can easily be prevented by getting vaccinated between the age of 13-29 years. For women who are not vaccinated, getting regular pap smear screening after the age of 30 can help detect the presence of HPV and cure it. Unfortunately, since pap smears are an invasive gynaecological procedure, there is an inherent taboo around getting tested.

On the occasion of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, Narayana Health wanted us to do a poster series to help educate and bust myths around this cancer. What we came up with was communication that was hard-hitting while treating the topic with the delicacy and sensitivity it deserved.
